I'm of the age where the muppets where my childhood pals, to the point where Miss Piggy went with me every year to see the Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. I would stay up late the night before with my cousins and other family friends, and we'd do her hair and get her ready to go and see her boyfriend - the enormous Kermit the Frog ballon in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Thanksgiving was always my favorite holiday, we usually had about 30-40 people come, with cousins and family friends my age. It was a wonderful weekend, getting off from school early on Wednesday, cleaning my room for a few hours just so that it could explode with the fun and games we would make up to fill up the hours. On Thanksgiving morning we would get up really early and drive into the city to watch the parade from a high floor in my father's office building. After the parade we'd take off our shoes and play tag sliding around on the smooth polished floors, hiding among desks and just having a blast. Here are a few pictures from 1979!
